Service : Role of the Holy Spirit ( John 16:1-15 ) -bad news first, good news next - leaving and we are going to be persecuted, get the Holy Spirit Point 1 : The Holy Spirit is our Helper (v.7) -our helper, our advocate -have to accept him into our mind, heart and spirit - then the spirit will help us -Greek - paraklētos - advocate;helper;intercessor  -holy spirit will be there for us - he will stand by our side - he will help us  -just need to speak up and invite him in -"one who mother's us" - one translation -will go to the Father on our behalf - will give us the words - will protect us (from bullies/the devil) -we were and are never meant to do it on our own -lawn mower needs gas - we need the Holy Spirit - allow him to guide us  -walk with the spirit - allow the spirit to walk in your life - Luke 11:9-13 - ask God -ask/seek/knock Point 2 : The Holy Spirit Proves that the World is Wrong (v.8-11) -the world seems appealing - adv...

Communion : Luke 23:32-34 Matthew 9:35-37 Services : Thrive with Jesus: Living Water (John 7) Point 1: Listen to Jesus v37a -Jesus cries out to us - speaks through everything and anyone - have to listen - have to respond  -so many voices in your our life- past, present and future - not not all bad  -so many that they drown out and don't recognize His voice - that is when it is bad  -way to get back - tune out the voices - pray/read - sit in silence - focus on Jesus -have to focus on the ones that are connected with Jesus - hear who Jesus is speaking through - the Spiritually connected  Point 2: Following Jesus  v37b-38 -the response -anyone who has a deep longing for Jesus this who it's for - at this festival there is everyone - even Gentiles were invited  -Psalm 42:1-2 -have to believe - the belief that you put/trust your entire life in Jesus - really make him LORD- not part of your life but ENTIRE life -Scriptur...

This is one of my favorite chapel sermons that I had a school. This was from early 2017, from our "Prayer Summit." The speaker touched on how we should be "hanging out" with Jesus the way we hang out with a friend. These are the notes I took from the day.  -Hangout with Jesus -He gave us 2 hears and 1 mouth so we can listen to him instead of always talking -Take him to dinner, take him on a date, walk with him, be with him, He wants a friendship with us -We have to love him AND like him, being with him Curses vs. Blessing Exodus 20:4-6 -curses go from family to family, the sin of the parents go through the third and forth generation. Communion :   Luke 22:47-51   Luke 22:23-24   Luke 23:39-43   Service : The Spirit and Sacrifice of Giving (Luke 21)   -Give with the right spirit and give sacrificficily   -v.1-4   -this woman give all she had - two small pennies = 1/4 of a penny   -she gave from the heart -what Jesus wants    Point:  Give with the right spirit   -Mt. 6:3-4 - give not for prosperity but give all the time as a habit where it is second nature - make it natural    -doesn't have to be just money - can be time and support    -problem: giving without intention, it's not a forethought    -Got to give like God would - wholeheartedly   -not as an after thought    -but be wise - don't be radical be smart    -don't go all in if you can't - don't go all in and expect a "payout"   -be sacrificial - give freely   "He is an unfeeling man if don't feel humil...

Service :  The Good Samaritan (Luke 10:25-37)   -red road/bloody road - actually notorious dangerous road   -man was not only stripped and robbed but beaten and left half dead   -priest represented people before God - had to to be decsendant of Aaron   -scared - didn't trust man- thought he would Rob him - can think of if the man is dead can't touch him because he would become unclean   -levite - servant to the priest - holy people in Israelite   -could be thinking the same as the priest    -both had opportunity to live out the title of what they are - both focused on what the outcome would be    -had opportunity to do God's work but didn't want to tarnish there rep   -we do the same - we shy away from what Jesus would do   -Sirach - "two nation's my soul detests, and the third is not even a people. Those who live in Seir, and the Philistines, and the foolish people that live in Schechem"   ...

The Secret Sauce :  John 15:1-17   -the thing about wild men- the fruit that is produced in their life- what they do   -stop trying to be a wild man - focus more on loving God - then being a wild man will happen    -first seek his kingdom - and all things will fall for us   -focus on the vine - what you are doing - grow your fruit   -we might fall - we might not produce the dream - we might not be growing the fruit we want    -can lead to doubt - but Jesus chose us - he chose you   -we might be focusing on ourselves - trying to do it alone -without God's help   -we can't - we need Jesus and his help   -need to have a deep quiet time - pray - pray for who we are studying with - be with Jesus    -remain in him and have his word reman in you   - you plant the seed but God waters   -Hebrews 11 - Hall of Faith   -they had their faults - they didn't try - but God called them an...
