John 10:14-18
Jesus is the good Shepherd - would lay down his life for his flock - he did that - there is no greater sign of love 
Service: Introducing the Church (Acts 2:36-47)
-Acts : Acts of the Apostles --- Acts of the Holy Spirit
-find a church that look like the church in the Bible - the church of Acts 
-church is the people - not just a building 
-Ekklesia = church
-v36 - need to make Jesus our Lord and Messiah - Lord = king , Messiah = annointed one 
-v37-38 - what to do
-v42-47 - what the early church looked like
-many characteristics of the early church
Three characteristics of the early church
Characteristic 1: Devotion (42-43)
-have to be devoted 
-we are devoted to our family - care for them 
-we make sacrifices to them - share, get up, them over us
-have to do this with Jesus - we have to act like this with the church
-you grow in yourself while helping them grow 
-have to be giving
-have to practice - same with a sport, music - "to be good at anything you have to devote about 10,000 hours to it" 
-have to be intention - have to carve out time 
-devotion with not happen without intention - have to make the time - time is one of the most valuable resources in our life
-reading, Bible Study, small groups, praying, giving, set an example - devotion = this and more 
-someone who who makes time for Jesus
Characteristic 2: Unity (44-47a)
-be together - be with each other
-devoted to each other 
-cant do this alone - not a lone sport
-all believers were together
-they had everything in common
-sold property and possessions and gave them anyone who had need
-everyday they continued to meet together in the temple courts
-they had glad and sincere hearts
-they praised God and enjoyed be favor of all the people
-iron sharpens iron
-to really hurt someone - pull them away from someone - we need people 
Characteristic 3: Growth (47)
-AND THE LORD - God added these numbers - they were devoted to God
-if we act like God - people will be curious - they will want to see what is up - God then will stir up people's hearts
-Daily - have to be a part of our daily conversation
-have to be apart of our hearts - main focus of our hearts 
-we are constantly in the mission field 
-have to act like it - we are a daily missionary
-everywhere we go 
Look at yourself and look at your church - evaluate where you can grow and fix your: devotion, unity and growth 
-where can you grow daily in God
-be the daily missionary
-believe and trust in God and his power - have faith 
-repent and change

“In peace I will lie down and sleep, for you alone, Lord, make me dwell in safety.” Psalm 4:8. This verse can connect to hundreds of verses. It can connect from the devotional from 3/22/2018 when the verse of the day was Psalm 91:1 and it stated that God was our shelter. It can also connect to another Psalm, one of my favorites 30:5, where it says “for his anger lasts only a moment, but his favor lasts a lifetime; weeping may stay for the night, but rejoicing comes in the morning.” This is one the Psalms that gives me help in my darkest of times. 'As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.'" Isaiah 55:8-9 Long time no talk. This is a continuation of a new series that I started back out towards the end of July, The Scripture Series . I was inspired after going on an encouragement date with a sister from Long Island and one with from our region. Usually at the end of these dates like the next day later or whenever they have the chance the sisters will write a card. And because I am me and I feel if someone gets me something I have to get them something in return, so I decided to combine the love for art and Scripture into one. But then I was like "BRAIN BLAST" why not make one for all the sisters in our campus for an encouragement for the upcoming semester and year.
