"Then
I will tell them plainly, 'I never knew you. Away from me you evildoers.'"
Matthew 7:23
"'His
master replied, 'Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful
with few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your
master's happiness!''" Matthew 23: 21/23
These two
verses coincide together. These are two verses that drive me everyday to grow
spiritually as a man. At the end of it all and when I have to face God at the
pearly gates I fear that I will hear "I didn’t know you" and not
"well done my good and faithful servant." I try to do everything I
can in order to glorify God in everything I do and to help all his people to
the best of my ability. Every time I think of
Matthew 23 verse I think of two songs the first being form this rapper I
follow, S.O. and his song "Parker's Verse." S.O. says, "What I'm given is what I'm given you can shine
different, I'm in it for long haul though time's ticking, I just wanna hear
well done servant when I'm finished." And the next from Andy
Mineo's "Honest to God Freestyle", where he says, "I'm just tryna hold on, hope I finish my
race, uh, I just wanna here Him say 'Well done,' How I feel right now? Well,
done." I feel both verses, but the Andy Mineo one hits me in the
heart. I am out here just trying to finish the race that God has set in front
of us. It is a grueling and exhausting race, I get persecuted, questioned, and
made fun of for what I believe in and what I do on a daily. But I know I got
Jesus on my side and that it is all worth it in the end. In the end this is
something that I fear is that when I am done, that I will not here well done.
During the verse from Matthew 7, it was during one of Jesus's most notorious
messages, Sermon on the Mount, during
this sermon he talked about so much that we should do on a daily basis, talked
about false prophets, and helping others. He talked about spreading His love to
all that we do. Matthew 25:34-46, talks about that if we do not feed the
hungry, clothe the naked, help those do not need help we are not only not
helping those people, but we are not helping Jesus. My friends yell at my all
the time for it, but the way I live my life unselfish, I always put other's
needs in front of my own. No matter I try to make people happy in all that I
do. Perfect example, after our playoff game I texted in our groupchat that I
will be giving people rides to those that need it. I got a good amount of
requests. Today I had to drop three people off, then tomorrow I got three more.
Today, I am running off of five totals hours of sleep. Had to drop someone off
at the airport at four in the morning and then got to nap for two hours than
was back to drop more people off. Tomorrow is the same I have early drop offs
and I am done. Every time I meet someone and talk to them, I always tell them
that I am always there for them and if they need someone that I will try my
best to help them. This world is a very dark place, I am just trying to spread
the light in the best was I can. You never know when you need help, that person
that you stepped out of your way to help will most likely help you. And that
how Jesus wants us to do it, he wants us to continually help each other and
grow in each other. In the end when we grow in each other we grow in God.
Lord, I
pray that we are able to hear you tell us "well done, my good and faithful
servant." I thank you for your grace and mercy. I pray that you are with
us helping us step out of our comfort zone and help people. Allow us to bring
the light and smiles to people in all different circumstances. I pray this in
your son's name, Amen.
