Daily Devotional: 10/28/2018 - SCRIPTURE SERIES PT. I (NP)

"'For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,' declares, the LORD. 'As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.'" Isaiah 55:8-9

Long time no talk. This is a continuation of a new series that I started back out towards the end of July, The Scripture Series. I was inspired after going on an encouragement date with a sister from Long Island and one with from our region. Usually at the end of these dates like the next day later or whenever they have the chance the sisters will write a card. And because I am me and I feel if someone gets me something I have to get them something in return, so I decided to combine the love for art and Scripture into one. But then I was like "BRAIN BLAST" why not make one for all the sisters in our campus for an encouragement for the upcoming semester and year. That was how The Scripture Series was created and this is only Part One with hopefully many more parts to come so we can encourage and give sisters hope all across the world.

  • Women have it hard no matter where they go or what they do. They lack equality in every aspect. They are constantly objectified and are constantly being taken advantage of. It is our job as men and as human beings to treat all these women with respect, love and the dignity they deserve.
  • I am going to try and keep these relatively short, but if God leads long we go long. Going to throw some fun facts and some scripture and call it a day.

Couple fun facts for you, sunflowers typically grow between 5 to 12 feet tall, they can reach their full length in at least 6 months. Another is, in China, green jade represents virtue and beauty.

I had to read this verse about 400 times to finally get it in my head and to make sure that I was reading it right. There is no way that we know and will know what God is thinking. Boy, do I wish  we could, life would be so much easier. He knows all things and he knows everything before it happens.

  • He is able to know what we do by knowing our heart.
  • His knowledge is infinite. He is all-knowing and all-being.

God is the one that created everything and he knows how it all works and how it does not work.

The same goes for his ways. They will never be our ways. His ways are flawless, perfect, and good in everyway. He will never trip and he will never stumble. Everything that he does is not only for his good, but for our good as well.

  • Romans 8:28, "And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose."

He is full of grace and mercy that allows him to benefit us. He does all things so we can live the life we live for him.

  • Nothing he does goes without purpose. He loves us so much that if we mess up he forgives and turns it for our benefit.

This is because of who he is and where he reigns.

Getting to know and understand his ways and methods comes with the help of trust. Once trust comes into play then we will tend to see things more clearly.

  • Proverbs 3:5-6 says, "Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all ways submit to him, and he will make your path straight."

Once we trust our steps become straighter and more consistent. This is not a blind trust either. This is not a "throw everything into one thing and give up" trust. This is a love trust. A trust that you have in a parent to be there. A trust you have in a teacher to know what they are talking about.

  • This is two things God is always doing. Loving and knowing.

Sunflowers are able to grow twice the size height of the average human in less than 6 months. Imagine what God can do. Somethings will happen in seconds and somethings will take years to accumulate.

  • It is up to God and his timing. 2 Peter 3:8 says, "But do not forget one thing, dear friends: With the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day."

This is what is so beautiful about all of this, God has a plan and he knows when we need something before we do and he knows if and when we can handle something. Trust God in all you do, he is above all (literally and figuratively). He may know a couple more things than us, just saying.

Lord, I pray that you continue to give me the words to write these on a more consistent basis. You know more than us, and we will never even get close to the amount of knowledge and love that you contain. You are all mighty and you are the most powerful. I pray you guide us to be the men and women you want us to be. Give us the wisdom to trust in you. I pray all this in your son's glorious awesome name, Amen.
