Daily Devotional: 7/18/2018 - GREATER GIFTS
"Now
eagerly desire the greater gifts. And yet I will show you the most excellent
way." 1 Corinthians 12:31
If you
have not already ready you should go ready a previous devotional that ties into
this one (1ne - 6/21/2018). God has
blessed us all with gifts, and no gift is greater than the other. We were all
put on this earth for a purpose and for a reason. Do not hang your head if
someone has something you do not have, they are probably praying to have
something that you have that they do not have.
"You shall not covet your neighbor's house. You
shall not covet your neighbor's wife, or his male or female servant, his ox or
donkey, or anything that belong to your neighbor." Exodus 20:17
- We are beyond blessed with anything that God gives us. We have to be thankful at all times
"But seek first his kingdom and his
righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well." Matthew
6:33
- We have to seek his kingdom and his glory first above all things.
We have to
desire the greater gifts of God. We have to do this eagerly, in a keenly
expectant and interested manner. God wants the best for us no matter what. He
does not want us to fail. We have to look for the greater gifts of God. We have
to desire and long for the time when Jesus comes back to his and we get to go
to Heaven. Nothing on this earth compares to what we have waiting for us in
heaven.
- Once we seek him and put him first we are promised that everything else will fall into plan. We have to trust the process.
"Which of you, if your son asks for bread, will
give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a snake? If you,
then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how
much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask
him!" Matthew 7:9-11
This is
right off the verse where Jesus tells the crowd that if they ask they will
receive. God gives the most perfect gifts. Our worldly parents try to give us
the world and all that we ask for, our Heavenly Father does the same thing.
There is no one that gives better gifts.
- If we as sinners and evil people try to give the best gifts, then what more will God who is perfect and righteous give us?
We are
called to use the gifts that we were given for his glory. We have to do all
things for the development and growth of the Kingdom. We have to eagerly desire
the greater gifts of God and Heaven. We have to run the race in order to finish
it. Seek the Kingdom and put him first, then all things will fall in line
according to his plan.
Trust the process.
Lord,
thank you for all that you do. You truly are an amazing God. You have given us
the most perfect gifts. There is no gift that can be given to us on earth that
will match to what we will receive in heaven. I pray you continue to guide us
in your glory and help fix our eyes on you and the Kingdom. I pray all this in
your son's name, Amen.
