Daily Devotional: 5/15/2018 - GOD-BREATHED

"All scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work." 2 Timothy 3:16-17

One of the biggest points of this scripture is that "ALL scripture is God-breathed," not only some of it, but all of it. God spoke these words in existence. God used 40 different "pens" to make up the Bible, but it is his word and he is the sole Author. He spoke every word for us. The Bible is a book that will make you wise for salvation. People literally search the entire world and look their entire life to find such a thing. Meanwhile it is right in front of them, the Bible claims all you have to do is read it and live by it. The Bible answers all the questions. Think of training you have gone through throughout your life. For me I train all the time in so many different aspects, I have trained for football, baseball, at work, and so many different places. For baseball my training ritual pertains of consistent practices, workouts, and study sessions of the game and the mechanics. The same is for tests you take in school, you train by going to class, asking and answering questions, and studying. The same is true for the Bible, you have to train in the Bible. It does not just come naturally. We have to be spiritually equipped, we have to be ready for battle and put on the full armor of God (Ephesians 6:10-20). When you do not train in the Word, it is like stepping in the battle field with no gun; it is like going into a football game without any pads on. The Word is only useful if you use it and train in it. Think of it like a toothbrush, it is only useful if you use it. Your teeth do not clean themselves, you have to brush them. The Bible has all the answers to life. It is like a teacher giving you the answers to the final exam on the first day of class. You have all semester to read and study them, it is your choice whether you fail or pass. You are to be able to read and study the answers and live by them. You need to be with God daily, read and reflect on his word daily. You need to be able and ready to teach, rebuke, correct, and train not only others, but yourself. The Bible has the ability to cut you at the soul and tell you what is wrong with you and others. The Word is "sharpers than any double-edged sword" (Hebrews 4:12). Once you do all this you will be equipped for every good work God has planned for you. You will be able to finish God's mission. The mission, that this blog is based off, of spreading his message with love and making disciples of every nation. The Word is our protection and our guide. You have to protect and save not only yourself and your hearers (1 Timothy 4:16), and the Bible has the ability to do such a thing.

Lord, thank you for waking us up this morning. Thank you for not only breathing life into us, but into your Word. I thank you for the light that it shines in our life and in this world. I pray that we are able to use your Word to spread your message and your love to all nation. Allow the Word to cut us at the soul and make us the best person we can be for you. Allow your will to be done on this earth as it in heaven. I pray that you continue to take away the darkness in our life and fill it with you. I pray all this in Jesus's name, Amen.

“I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” John 16:33. This world is a dark place, I said it before and this will not be the last time I put it in a devotional. It is, it was no God’s intentions when he created us and created this world that darkness will take over. But just like everything else God uses it for his advantage. He allows all the bad things that happen in this world and to us to show us his power. He uses it to bring us closer to him. He uses it to show he has something better for us not only not only on this earth, but in heaven.
