Daily Devotional: 9/9/2018 - TUG OF WAR PT. V

tug of war
/təɡ - əv - wôr/
Noun
  1. an athletic contest between two teams at opposite ends of a rope, each team trying to drag the other over a line.
  2. a hard-fought, critical struggle for supremacy.

Tug of war, the war to settle who is the manliest of men
The war of brute strength, hard hands, and a hard head
It's my turn, my time
I'm ready, ready for my fight
Ready like '07, people waiting to Witness
Witness Greatness, thinking I am king
Chalk to dust, the lights go out
Ready
Pick up the rope, this time its not knotted but braided
I can feel the nylon start to grip to the grooves of my fingers
Get Set
Dig in, kicking rocks
Set my feet, plant my heels
Close my eyes, seeing my Opponent with my ears
Pull
But He isn't pulling back
Pulling and pulling, going no where
Slipping and cutting
Blood turns to sweat and sweat to blood
Ankles go numb from the thorns
Losing balance on the sea of rocks
Getting entangled in the array of weeds
Starting to reap what was sown, I already used all my seeds
Screaming and shouting, but still locked in a box
Almost that time, get ready to sound the horns
Not yet, I still got one last breathe, one last pull
"Just let go," He whispers, "You'll win"
"You got this, keep pulling," it lies, "You'll win"
The nylon becomes wire, cuts deep pass the callouses
Cuts deep into the soul
Need to make that one more call
I need that one more taste of satisfaction
I need I need I need
"You want, You want, You want; I am all you need."
I am all I can't be drop the rope
Take a knee
This is a war I can't win, He is my last hope

"And I been fighting for control and fighting for my soul and
This is war, it’s a tug of war"

Lord, allow us to let go of the rope. Thank you for the continue mercy and grace that you grant us while we pull and pull. We are natural born sinners, we do not want to go against you. Give us the wisdom and discernment to follow you and to stay straight on our path. Give us the strength to fight off the devil and to lean on you. I pray all this in your son's glorious awesome name, Amen.
