Daily Devotional: 9/21/2018 - SCRIPTURE SERIES PT. I (KK)

"Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you." 1 Peter 5:7

So I know I said that I was going to be back with the last one, but I still needed some time off. It was just the lack of time, but now I am back forreal forreal. I was just doing a 40-day study plan that took up all my quiet time in the morning and at night, with a combination of work, school, church, and baseball.

This is a new series that I started back out towards the end of July, The Scripture Series. I was inspired after going on an encouragement date with a sister from Long Island and one with from our region. Usually at the end of these dates like the next day later or whenever they have the chance the sisters will write a card. And because I am me and I feel if someone gets me something I have to get them something in return, so I decided to combine the love for art and Scripture into one. But then I was like "BRAIN BLAST" why not make one for all the sisters in our campus for an encouragement for the upcoming semester and year. That was how The Scripture Series was created and this is only Part One with hopefully many more parts to come so we can encourage and give sisters hope all across the world.

  • Women have it hard no matter where they go or what they do. They lack equality in every aspect. They are constantly objectified and are constantly being taken advantage of. It is our job as men and as human beings to treat all these women with respect, love and the dignity they deserve.
  • I am going to try and keep these relatively short, but if God leads long we go long. Going to throw some fun facts and some scripture and call it a day.

The French word for sunflower is tournesol which literally means "turned sun". This refers to the plant's ability to turn to the sun. No matter where the flower is in the field it turns it's head to face the sun.

This is something that we should do all the time. We should do this not only metaphorically looking at the sun (Son), but looking up and not letting our head hang. God wants us to set and fix our eyes on him and him only and always. He never wants us to hang our heads. Sometimes when we are down we hang our head and give up. This is not what God wants us to do.

Life is tough and will always get tough (there is no stopping this), but I got good news. We serve a God that can and will take on anything for us. We cannot do this on our own. We one do not have the strength and second do not have the ability, but God does.

  • God wants us to lean on him. He wants us to cast all our anxieties, worries, and doubts on him. He will show that he can handle all.
  • God uses our weaknesses in the hardest and darkest of times. He turns our weaknesses into strengths.
  • "No temptation has overtake you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it." 1 Corinthians 10:13

An unfun fun fact for you today is, "In India blue is thought to bring bad luck and is associated with mourning. Here is a funner (it is a word, deal with it) fun fact, "Studies show weight-lifters are able to handle heavier weights in blue gyms." Commonly we think of the first fact, but like science always says, "For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction." This is Newton's Third Law, not theory but law; so that means that it is true.

  • Sorry Gold's Gym and Planet Fitness but it is time to find a blue gym. I am trying to get swole. Trying to get swole and strong in Jesus. We have to do some reps with the Bible and learn daily. There is not better way of getting stronger.

If you get anything out of this devotional I ask you to sit and pray on these points:

  • Keep your head up and always face the sun (Son).
  • Blue is a color of strength and no longer a color of sadness.

Lord, I thank you for all you do. You give us the strength to walk with you daily. This life is impossible without you. I pray you give us the wisdom to set and fix our eyes on you and your glory. Give us the strength to read and be with you daily. I pray you allow us to grow as tall in faith as a sunflower. I pray all this in your son's name, Amen.
