Daily Devotional: 5/20/2018 - THE MOUNTAIN

"But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witness in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth." Acts 1:8

Julius Bjornsson, do not know him? Well, look him up. Recognize him? He is kind of small, he is only 6'9" and weight about 400 pounds. Besides being super small, he is the also known as "the Mountain" from the hit HBO TV show, The Game of Thrones. Not just being known as the Mountain, he has added the title of "the World's Strongest Man" to the resume. He finally got the first place finish after previously finishing 2nd three times and 3rd three times. You think he is strong at 6'9" and 400 pounds? Well, multiply that by infinity and he still does not equal the strength of the Holy Spirit. God is the strongest thing in the universe, there is nothing that can stop him. God was with the Israelites in the Old Testament. He helped them defeated countless armies that they had no business defeating, both strength and numbers wise. He helped bring them out of Egypt, he not only defeated their army he sent ten plagues and the on the way out parted the Red Sea and closed it on them. God created the earth and everything and everyone in it (Genesis 1:2), and he created it out of nothing. He made it rain manna when the Israelites cried for food (Exodus 16:13-14). In the New Testament, we got Jesus. And boi do not get me started on the power Jesus. He healed thousands; he healed the blind, the sick, the Lepers, the deaf, the paralyzed, and the dead. He released people from the bondage of demons. He had control over nature; turned water to wine, multiplied fish and bread, calmed storms, and walked on water. He the biggest thing, Jesus (our Lord and Savior) defeated death. God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit are one God, they are a 3-in-1. Jesus is God, God is Jesus, and Jesus and God are filled with the Holy Spirit; they are 3-in-1, they are all the same. When you have the power of the Holy Spirit you are able to do anything (Philippians 4:13). When you get baptized you kill your old self to make room for the Holy Spirit to fill you. The power of the Holy Spirit gives us the power to complete Jesus's mission; and with this Jesus give us the authority to complete this mission (Luke 9:1-5). The Holy Spirit guides us, it is the guiding hand to our path. When filled with the Spirit you have wisdom and righteousness. Every author in the Bible was filled and guided with and by the Holy Spirit. The Bible is God-breathed (2 Timothy 3:16-17), it is guided by God and which is guided by the Holy Spirit. It wrote out playbook to life. Every true follower gives up their soul to God and is guided by the Holy Spirit. When you pray your words are guided by the Spirit. In prayer the Spirit is the messenger, the are the ear and they are the loving guiding whisper. Luke 6:63 says, "The Spirit gives life; the flesh counts for nothing. The words I have spoken to you-they are full of the Spirit and life." It is through the Spirit that gives us life. We have to invite the Spirit in, and we invite the Spirit in when get baptized. We have to be filled with the love of the Spirit. We have to allow it to guide you. We have to walk blindly and allow it to be your eyes and your tongue. We have to act like Jesus and his Apostles and be filled with the Spirit. We have to act in righteousness, allow it to control your way of life, your thinking, your tongue and speech. Allow the Spirit to make you full. We have to listen to the Spirit, we have to drown out the voices of the world and focus on the voice of our Lord and Savior Jesus.

Lord, I thank you for all you do. Thank you for the Word, thank you for the breath you gave us today, thank you for waking us all up this morning. Thank you for the daily second chance at life. I pray that you continue to fill us with you, with your breath, with your wisdom and righteousness. I pray that the Spirit continues to guide us in all that we do. Allow it to be our silent but loud guide on our path to you. I pray that we are full of the Spirit in all our speech, ways, and thinking. I pray that every word that I write is Spirit led, spoke, and given. I pray that the everyone is filled with the Spirit and sparked but its love. I pray all this in Jesus's name, Amen.
