Daily Devotional: 5/25/2018 - GATEKEEPER

"Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me." Psalm 51:10

The heart, everyone knows what the heart is and everyone has one. It is the thing in your chest that pumps the blood throughout your body. The heart is divided into four different chambers. The heart is enclosed in a protective sac. This sac is called the pericardium, it contains three layers. The heart is one of the most important organs in our body. We have to protect it daily and we have to be conscience about it. We put a lot of stress, both physical and emotional, that can lead to some serious diseases and disorders. Also, the heart is the gateway to our soul. Proverbs 4:23 says, "Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it." All the devil needs is a little foothold on our heart in order to grab onto it. We need to be constantly aware of our thoughts and our actions. We have to pray for protection, renewal, and we have to repent of our sins. We have to spread the Gospel and the love of Jesus. We need to rely and trust in God. We have to fill our heart with so much light that all the darkness is just encased and has no space to stay. Jesus said that we need to have a good heart in order to enter the kingdom of God. We cannot hold grudges, we have to forgive. We cannot hate, we have to love. Matthew 5:8 says, "Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God.". We have to have a light heart, we cannot have a heavy heart full of burdens and grudges. The heart has to be fill of Light and has to be pure. The heart is where all our thoughts and feelings originate from. A Light heart is full of righteous thoughts. While a dark heart is full of evil thoughts. Proverbs 21:2 says,  "A person may think your own ways are right, but the LORD weight the heart." Everything flows from the heart, all our thoughts, concerns, and wishes. In the end God knows all that we do and think. He knows what we are going to do before we even do it or think it. In the end of days he is going to weigh our heart. One way to make our heart light and let go some of the burdens of the heart is by being vulnerable. Mark 9:23-24 says, "'If you can?' said Jesus. 'Everything is possible for one who believes.' Immediately the boy's father exclaimed, 'I do believe; help me overcome my unbelief'!" God wants us to lean on him. He wants us to be aware of our troubles, if we are our aware of our troubles we are able to get better. It shows an initiative, that shows your love for God. Psalm 34:18 says, "The LORD is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit." he wants us to ask for heart help, he wants to help make our heart pure. He wants us to be the best man or woman that we can be. He wants us to be able to glorify him in everything we do. We cannot glorify him if we have a hard heart. Sometimes God hardens our heart in order for us to go to him and in order to see his power (Exodus 10:1-2). A heart free from the dark and fill of the light and focused on God is a good heart. We constantly have to have heart checks. We have to look at our actions and thoughts. We have to talk to people you know with good hearts. We have to do good, we have to act like Jesus. Jesus had the perfect heart, he led by example and we have to follow it. We have to love everyone and set a gatekeeper for heart. He has to be on guard at all times, the perfect gatekeeper is our perfect God.

Lord, thank you for all you do. Thank you for never leaving our side, thank you for always be there for us. Thank you for being there during our ups and our downs. You are the perfect gatekeeper. I pray that you continue to protect our heart from the dark. Fill it up with so much light that the dark has no space at all to get it. Grease our heart from the dark. I pray all this in Jesus's name, Amen.
