Services: Thrive with Jesus Through Temptation - Luke 4 
Point 1: Enlist... The help of the Spirit (v. 1-2) 
-Jesus full of the Spirit - just got baptised - Spirit led him to the wildness 
-Spirit will lead us into so dangerous places - but will be not be tempted and put into anything we can't handle - If we have the Spirit we can do anything  
-Jesus was led to be tested - he was tempted - he went to the Spirit to find answers 
-like the Israelites in Exodus - they failed - Jesus didn't - use both as an example (since we all fail)  
-Duet 8:2 
-Psalm 16:8 
-Galatians 5:16,25 
-jesus modeled for us - he asked for help - he is the helper - be led by the Spirit 
-some are sparked by the disengagement of the spirit and not the engagement - distracted by the world - tempted by the world 
-Win the morning - walk with the spirit - quiet time - transaction period (between class, between work) - need to be intentional 
Point 2: Resists... The adversary (v. 3-4) 


-man doesn't live on bread alone but on the word of God - not just one word but all word  
-know the word - study it 
-Ex 16:1-3 - grumbling - gave into the temptation - gave up on God  
-when they got the food they critizied God -  
-word of God is the source of life - have to feast daily and feast all the time - got to be ready  
-if it's not the word - check your self - what are you feeding on - fast 
Point 3: Persist... In your resistance (v. 5-13) 
-Ex 32:1-5 - Israelites made idols  
-got to continually be ready in the world - don't fall for the devil throwing scripture  
-God will test us but we can't test God - God knows what's up 
-Be a people that recognize the schemes of the devil - be prestistant 
-James 4:7

The fruit of the Spirit is all things that we should be. Jesus came into this earth in order for us to be saved from eternal death and also to be an example for us. Jesus never turned a blind eye. He embraced everyone with open arms. You have to work hard everyday to strengthen ourselves in these categories. We have be able to portray these characteristics in order to bear good fruit. We have to love one another, even our enemies. We gain joy by believing in Jesus and following his teachings. There is everlasting joy just knowing he has our back even during the tough times. We have to bring peace to this world that is full of hate and evil. There is constant war and battle, we have to be that loving, peaceful hand in the toughest of situations. We have to be faithful. “For everything that was written in the past was written to teach us, so that through the endurance taught in the Scriptures and the encouragement they provide we might have hope.” Romans 15:4. Everything, and I mean everything, in the Bible was written for us. From Genesis all the way to Revelations. Even the books of law in Exodus, Deuteronomy, and Leviticus. All that is written can be used to spread the word and love of Jesus. “ALL Scripture is god-breathed” (2 Tim. 3:16). It is used to teach, rebuke, correct, and train.It is “sharper than any double-edge sword” (Hebrews 4:12). It is alive and active. Everything that is written in the Bible no matter the time period is still relevant today. We age, but God doesn’t. That is why it is important to continually be in the Scripture. We have to continually read, study, and talk about it. We have to train in righteousness and be ready for the day when Jesus comes back. We first looked at the story in the Bible, now we look at a song that is inspired by the story. Trip Lee is the man. A man with many talents and many titles; he is a pastor, blogger ( http://builttobrag.com/ ), writer, rapper, and father. He was one of the first to join Lecrae over at Reach Records, back in the day where overly baggy shirts and overly baggy pants were the thing (the early 2000s were an interesting time).
