“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” Matthew 11:28

There are infinite things that are amazing about our Lord and Savior. One of my favorite things is, Jesus came not only for everyone, but he especially came for the broken, the lost, the dysfunctional, the poor, the anomalies, he came for us. Jesus hang out with tax collectors, prostitutes, sinners, and outcasts. Tax collectors in this day and age were some of the worst people, they were seen as liars and cheats. Tax collectors would collect more than what was suppose to be collected, they would force people to give them more and pocket the rest. If you did not give what they asked for they would tell the government that you were not paying your taxes and you can use your imagination on what would happen to those people. Matthew, who was a tax collector, was one of Jesus’s disciples. Another one of the most famous encounters with a tax collector comes in Luke, when Jesus meets Zacchaeus. Jesus met Zacchaeus when he was passing through to Jericho. There was a huge crowd for Jesus, and he couldn’t see Jesus so he ran up a tree to see him. When Jesus noticed this he called him down and said that he would stay at his house. When Zacchaeus came to Jesus he told him how he was going to give back all that he cheated out of people. Jesus was happy with this and said that he would be granted salvation. He also would say in verse 10, “For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost.” Jesus is what helped me deal with my demons, my depression and my anxiety. Jesus came to take it all on for us. He wants us to cast it all on him (1 Peter 5:7). He came to this earth to save us from eternal death and gave us eternal life. Jesus came for the undesirables; he came for us.

Lord, thank you for taking all things on for us. Thank you for sending your only son to die not only for our sins, but in order for us to have an eternal life in heaven with you. Thank you for the endless love and for continuing to keep us safe. I pray you continue to take on all our demons, continue to give us the strength to deal with it all. With you nothing is impossible. You have already won the war.
