"In their hearts humans plan their course, but the Lord establishes their steps." Proverbs 16:9.

Myself along with a couple of the other campus students are doing a plan where we are reading through the book of Psalms and the book of Proverbs several times. The other day we read Chapter 16 in the book of Proverbs, and I thought this would be a good verse to do the daily devotional on. Then yesterday I stumbled on it while reading and studying, I felt like it was a good verse since it was something I have been dealing with. Then when I woke up and today this was the verse of the day I knew something is up. I really do not know what to think about it, but like I said two days ago, "coincidences are God's way of staying anonymous." Us humans are natural born sinners and are naturally greedy. We want everything under the sun and we will complain until we get what we want. It does not matter who you are at one point or another you have begged for something. We all have the diva personality of want want want and need need need, but do not give give give. It is also natural for us to dream. My dream is to get drafted in the MLB, but that is not up to me. The only way that it will happen is if it is apart of God's plan. We try to set the stones for God, but little do we know that the stones are already laid we just have to walk on them. We try our best to tell God what we want and that we are going to do something. A bad example, but can kind of work, is lifting and practicing. We lift and practice in order to make it to the big league, we think that it will help us. It will, but it is not up to us if it will work or not, it is through the power of God and all he gives in order for it work. We can pray and pray, but it is up to God. I read something yesterday that was blunt and too the point and something that is very true. It read, "Just as a parent would not give a poisonous snake to his child to play with, so our God and Father will not grant our prayer requests if they will do harm to us. He sees the entire picture. If God does not answer your prayers according to your desires it is because of His all-knowing love for you. Accept it and move on." People can see this as harsh, but it is true. God will never tempt us with more than we can handle. This goes for both temptations (the bad), but also the same goes for success. If God does not think you can handle success, he will not give it to you. We have to glorify God in all we do, and naturally we are attention seekers and tend to put our glory before his. God will never put anything in our life that can cause serious damage. It is not that God does not hear your prayers, because he does, but it is up to him. Sometimes it is not the right time, and you just have to be patient. Or other times it is not meant to be, God knows you better than you know your self. If he knows you cannot handle it or that you should not have it, he will not give it you. So instead of cursing him when you do not get your way thank him.

Lord, thank you. Thank you for continuing to be a loving and caring father. You are always there for us even when we do not know it. You still love us even when we curse you. You never forsake or leave us. You know what is best for us, even when we want it. You know if we can handle it or not. You know our intentions and steps before we do anything. You laid the stones to our path. You are the light to our path. Continue to guide us in all you do. Use us for your glory. Allow your will, not our, to be done on this earth as it is done in heaven. In Jesus's name, Amen.
