“How great you are, Sovereign Lord! There is no one like you, and there is no God but you, as we have heard with our own ears.” 2 Samuel 7:22
Sovereign is defined as supreme ruler. Our God is the supreme ruler of everything and anything. He has made everything that we see, he most importantly made us. We are made in his image (Gen. 1:27). There is that worship song that is sung by every band from Passion, to Casting Crown, to Hillsong, to Elevation Worship, to the small churches and chapels called “How Great Are You.” In this song they proclaim and worship God, by singing how great God is and that there is none above or like him. Our God is incomparable to any other god that people worship or believe in. Our God is the one that created the earth and everything on it in 6 days. He is God that heals. He is a God that gives love and hope. He is a God that gives both mercy and destruction. He is God that grants salvation to everyone that believes (Rom. 1:16). God is able to guide us through the hard times, because they will happen. He does not want them to happen, but God is so great he will use those hard times, those falls, those stumbles, those doubts for his glory. He will show his power through them by guiding you out of them. He will lift you up and bring him up to you. God is continually molding us to be the men and women he wants us to be, whether we are up or we are down, he is there with his chiseling hand carving us to his perfection. So in times when we are in the desert remember God was once in the desert (Mt. 4) and he was able to conquer it. He did not fall for temptations, and God will help us not fall for ours. He is stronger than the devil and stronger than everything the devil will throw at us. We already know who wins the war at the end of the day, we just have to stand firm against the devil in battles with the weapon of God. Remember there is nothing above or more powerful than God. There is nothing above him.
Lord, I pray and thank you for all you do. I thank you for being the ultimate almighty God. You are above all us, there is nothing above you. You are stronger than man can think. Thank you for making everything on this earth and thank you for making us in your image. I pray you continually use your chiseling hands on us, allowing your will to be done on earth as it is in heaven. This is not our world, but yours. This is not our life, but yours. This is not our breath, but yours. Continually allow your light to shine bright in this dark world. And allow that light to shine bright through us, so that we can bring people to you and your light. I pray all this in your son’s glorious awesome name, Amen.
