“In peace I will lie down and sleep, for you alone, Lord, make me dwell in safety.” Psalm 4:8.

This verse can connect to hundreds of verses. It can connect from the devotional from 3/22/2018 when the verse of the day was Psalm 91:1 and it stated that God was our shelter. It can also connect to another Psalm, one of my favorites 30:5, where it says “for his anger lasts only a moment, but his favor lasts a lifetime; weeping may stay for the night, but rejoicing comes in the morning.” This is one the Psalms that gives me help in my darkest of times. There are times were you just have to lie down and go to sleep. You stress your body to the max where you feel like you just went through war. And in a sense you did. You were fighting the devil. He could have been filling your head with doubts, throwing curves at you, or putting people in your life that were trying to pull you away from God. But the good news is that if you made it out alive you won the battle and the war. You will always come out of battles with wounds and bruises, but those scars will remind you how to deal with them next time. After either taking that power nap or waking up the next morning you feel so much better. You feel brand new again. You are able to conquer the day that God blessed you with again. That is because like I said sometimes after battles you have to go to bed and rest your body, mind and soul. That is time where God will heal you and allow your body to think you and regenerate. It’s amazing all the things your body can do and God can do while you are not doing anything at all. When we are sleeping, you may not know it but you are trusting God. You are at your most vulnerable when you sleep, you are unaware of your surroundings, you do not hear, you do not see. You are putting your full trust in God. We dwell in God’s safety. He is our rock and our shelter. He is a Heavenly Father, that will continue to love and guide us through everything. Do not be discouraged if you are feeling down or if you in a current battle, God is there helping you in this moment to grow stronger. Every scar that you have is a battle wound and has a story behind it. Do not be afraid to tell the story behind it, it could save someone’s life. Sometimes the best way to feel better is sleep, be alone with God. Allow him to heal you and be with him. God is truly amazing, it blows minds all he can do. Do not be afraid and dwell in the Lord.

Lord, I pray and thank you for all you do. Thank you for waking us up this morning and giving us breath. There are thousands of people that did not. Thank you for continuing to be our shelter, our father, our rock. Thank you for all the scars that we get from battles with the devil. Thank you for already defeating the devil in the war, I pray that you continually remind us that you have already defeated the devil. Use you as an example. Allow our scars not define us for the bad, but for the good. Allow the scars remind us what we can do with you, allow them to encourage others and save others. There is so much evil in the world, the world’s darkness is strong but your light is stronger. Allow your light to reach millions. Allow those that are in battles right now, remember that once they are down the burden and stress will be lifted off their shoulders and they will be better for it. Allow their weeping to stay only for the night, and allow their life to be filled with rejoicing in the morning. I pray all this in your son’s glorious awesome name, Amen.
